Having lived in Denver for so long, I do many of the same road routes, like Lookout Mountain over and over. By exploring a few dirt roads around Cody Park and Mt Vernon, it made this ride feel like a really fresh and different experience.
There is always a little bit of suffering on a gravel ride with this much climbing!
Do this ride if you want to slow down, add some quiet dirt roads and do some additional climbing on your usual trip up Lookout Mountain.
We recommend starting at Confluence Park or REI in Denver.
There are public bathrooms at Crown Hill Park (mile 7), and at Lookout Mountain Park (mile 21.5).
As of April 2025, there is an incredible French Bakery/Cafe at the top of the climb (approximately mile 21.5) called Et Voila. We highly recommend- it is well worth the stop!
